grEEN SCREEN/MASKING
It could be formally interesting to experiment with masking out areas of an environment and utilizing visual interplay to create mysterious yet intriguing, surrealistic spaces! I ran with the idea to shoot footage of places I am around the most because I tend to pay attention to the visual, sublime nature of the spaces near me. I recorded these moments of silence and serenity and experimented with keying and editing to create an interesting narrative. I took heavy inspiration from Maya Deren and her film “Meshes of the Afternoon” as she employed really interesting compositing techniques and also
used high contrast, black and white imagery to employ an abstract, almost disturbing narrative.
